oasis（オアシス）の国内では9枚目のシングル。

表題曲の「All Around The World」は3rdアルバム「Be Here Now」からの3枚目のシングル。

「All Around The World」はoasis史上最長の長さを誇る9分を超える大作である。

ド派手で壮大なアレンジの為か、それ程の長さを感じさせない曲である。

この「All Around The World」の原曲はデビュー前から完成しており、ノエルは当時から「3枚目のアルバムに入れる」と明言していたそうだ。

まさしく有言実行である．．．。

2曲目の「The Fame」はノエルが歌うロックンロールソング。

爽やかさ全開の曲であるが、マイナー調のフレーズも挟んでいるあたりはノエルらしいといえばノエルらしい。

イントロ部分のギターフレーズは似たような使い方している曲が多い気もする．．．。

3曲目の「Flashbax」もノエルが歌うスローなナンバー。

曲の構成等には特に捻りがなく、メロディもそりゃアルバムには入らないだろうなぁというレベルではある．．．。

4曲目の「Street Fighting Man」はリアムが歌うThe Rolling Stones（ザ・ローリング・ストーンズ）のカバー。

リアムの声はこういう曲には最高にマッチする！！

「ビィ・ヒア・ナウ」からのシングルカット第2弾。
発売当時は来日記念盤の扱いだったものの、1998年になってからのライブでは演奏リストから外されていたため、何となく宙ぶらりんな存在になってしまった(でも本国では見事チャート1位)。

この「オール・アラウンド・ザ・ワールド」という曲自体は、デビュー前には完成しており断片的ではあるが1992年のリハーサル映像が残っている。

アコギのストロークから始まってリアムが歌い始める所は「ホワットエヴァー」を連想させるが、メロディーは「ホワットエヴァー」と同レベルに素晴らしく、キーがどんどん上がっていくのも解放感を演出していて実に良い。
が、詰め込み過ぎの音作りが全てを台無しにしてしまったと思う。効果的なビートルズ風ホーンがあるのに、なぜギターやハーモニカを執拗に何層にも重ねるかなー?と聴きながらいつも感じる。

曲が長いのはこの曲の場合、必然的だとしても(シングルにしては長いが)、音づくりだけはもっとシンプルなものにしてほしかった。
メロディーの良さがサウンドの厚化粧さで完全に埋もれてしまった残念な名曲。

What is this? - You might ask five stars? For a mere slice of 90's Pop?
And above that: coming from a theology student!

It's true that All around the world is POP, but it's not just any POP it is both refined and visionary well-concerted yet crossing the boarders of visionary artistry, it's all there.
It's and anthemic time piece of from a creative era in music but it also a multilayered perfect delivery of a timeless tune - Albeit here in a edited version All around the world is more than an interesting curiosity. Yes, fans like me who grew up in the day remember the cool video. But there is more to it than that, the musical palette here is so deep and versatile, yet, it's not one off- far out recording experience as is often the story with swinging 60's era songs. Here it is very delicately put together and just really really fine. Oasis were at the peak of their powers here. The year was 1997 their move from slick formulaic pop and this further development is as impressive as it is perfect. The album version is also complete with a magnificent instrumental reprise. (experience it on the double vinyl edition If you can find it) Hearing the developed horn brass and strings orchestras is really enough to captivate any listener, and on top of that we have one of the most stellar music melodies and some of the most sympathetic vocal deliveries and lyrics there ever was in Pop and I'm not joking.
I own this on cd cassette and have ordered the vinyl issue. In saying this is meaning this one of those tracks and bands were the fascination seems to have no end.

The b- sides aren't as grand as the title track but they are all solid.

Concerning b-sides it is nice to see Noel, really taking charge.
The above said is best exemplified I think with the bridge or lead in to the chorus on Flashbaxs has a sort of refined and improved Byrds jangle, with a signature dreamy Oasis sound, although the laidbacl wistle seems under the influence pf John Sebastian and The Lovin Spoonful.

Another interesting thing with his single is that it even includes a Jagger/Richard penned number, but that it still carries that confident stellar delivery of Oasis all the way. At this point it seemed in pop they were quite untouchable, consequently this single, like the album it's taken from became number one. And it is still as great after all these years - or more rightly put my fascination, and appreciation for this record has GROWN through the year as I myself have matured, this has helped me through phases of depression,("All around the World you got to spread the word, tell them what you heard, you know it's gonna be okay") and yes it used to be only a cool video, now I understand the fully serving brilliant of it, and it's quite unique, some well put together and simply beautiful all the way through, a high point for that pop is concerned - 90's Britpop or otherwise, it defines the Britpop movement, carries on swinging 60's influences, but Oasis always moved into a league of their own, and a sing along friendly atmosphere does not hurt the slightest bit. Part of the reason why this record is so likable lies in how it is so easily accessible to anyone, the dreamy atmosphere is one of a kind and it's infectious! Timeless stuff! It is not "mere pop" it is the definition of visionary pop and it touches me on a really personal level.

I bought this single as I'd lost mine but I bought it for the b sides. Flashbax and the Fame. God knows why they never had room for these songs on an album. Amazing tunes
