In the '80s and '90s, John Williams has come to occupy roughly the same towering place in filmdom occupied by Henry Mancini for much of the '60s and '70s. Williams (who played piano on some early Mancini scores) carved out that distinction with exciting, full-blooded scores like George Lucas's Star Wars trilogy and the Indiana Jones cycle, Steven Spielberg's blockbuster tributes to the cheesy film serials of his youth. The first in that series, Raiders wears its retro-symphonic sensibilities like a badge of honor and indeed, DGG's expanded deluxe release plays like a more economic Mahler opus. A true film music classic, even if its sensibilities are 40 years misplaced. --Jerry McCulley

Love this Raiders soundtrack

This is one of my favorite soundtracks. I bought this soundtrack used and although there's a scratch on the disc, it plays perfectly. I ripped the music to my computer and transferred it to my phone; and then I made a ring tone from the Raiders March.

Innanzitutto si tratta di una versione a due dischi. Quindi doppio vinile. Quando l'ho aperto ho notato questa colorazione grigiastra sfumata con degli enormi graffi..... Altro che nero vinile! Ho pensato i dischi fossero bruciati o rovinati.. Ed invece è proprio così, una sorta di picture disc!!! Bellissimo! L'audio è impeccabile, non saprei distinguere sul mio (discreto) impianto se sia superiore o meno alla versione digitale, ma a me il vinile piace per la filosofia d'approccio, per il rituale... Quindi per me acquisto azzeccatissimo, da ascoltare così anche distrattamente o concentrati ad occhi chiusi immaginando le scene del film che è uno dei miei preferiti. Versione proveniente dalla GB, ci ha messo un pò ad arrivare (siamo anche in periodo COVID19, quindi..) ma sempre (abbondantemente) entro i tempi indicati al momento dell'acquisto. Tutto perfetto

Un album indispensable pour tous les fans de John Williams, et en particulier pour les amateurs de la période fin 1970 début 1980. Si vous avez aimé des BO comme les Star Wars (4, 5 et 6) ou encore Superman, vous ne serez pas dépaysés. Cet album contient la quasi totalité des musiques entendues dans le film, contrairement aux BO des deux opus suivants. Il se fait malheureusement, tout comme les deux autres d'ailleurs, de plus en plus rare. Espérons qu'avec la sortie d'Indiana Jones IV, prévue pour l'années prochaine, les albums des trois premiers films seront réédités !

I remember seeing this movie when it first came out in the movie theater. This movie blew me away and it still does. I have probably seen it a hundred times and it never gets old. Why can't they make movies like this anymore?
