If you like Portishead (Geoff barrow) the you'll love this.
It's music from Mega City 1, which is from Judge Dredd.
It's dark and melodic, and creates the feeling of being in Mega City.
It's absolutely amazing.

"Judge Dredd" bekam einen zweiten elektronischen Soundtrack: Fernseh- und Filmscorekomponist Ben Salisbury und Bassist Geoff Barrow feierten die Nostalgie in blutleeren Stimmungsbildern. Salisbury, der bei Erstellung des Albums 2012 bereits über 200 Film- und TV-Soundtracks erstellt hatte, blieb auch in der Zusammenarbeit mit "Portishead"-Mastermind Geoff Barrow seinem eigentlichen Metier halbwegs treu, denn das Album trägt den Untertitel "Music Inspired by Mega-City One", outet sich also als ein Tribut an die britische Comicserie "2000 A.D.". Salisbury und Barrow lieferten sozusagen die elektronische Antwort auf die orchestrale Science-Fiction-Opulenz, die Alan Silvestri dereinst dem Protagonisten Judge Dredd in der gleichnamigen Verfilmung auf den Leib schneiderte.
Der Sound der 19 Scorethemen mit einer Gesamtspielzeit von 56:37 Minuten ist düster und sehr reduziert. Von der Herangehensweise her ähnelt er stark den Soundtracks von John Carpenter. Er ist natürlich instrumental, sehr keyboardlastig und nur notdürftig mit Beats oder zusätzlichen Spielereien angereichert. Die Reduzierung des Sounds ist es aber gerade, die eine eindrucksvolle Wirkung erzeugt. "Drokk" war die erste Zusammenarbeit der beiden Musiker nach ihrem Kennenlernen 2010, und sie war derart gelungen, dass noch etliche weitere Kollaborationen folgten. Die CD kommt in einem Digipack mit einem Deckblatt, von dem rechts ungefähr ein Fünftel abgeschnitte wurde- spleenig und ungewöhnlich, aber sicher auch affällig individuell.

Futuristic tech noir for fans of cutting edge electronica, this alternate soundtrack to the Dredd film is close to being a masterpiece. Parts remind me of early John Carpenter or Brad Fiedel's score for Terminator. Moody, atmospheric, minimalistic in places but always compelling. The presentation of the vinyl cover looks great too. One negative comment is that the double vinyl does not include download code, which is a real pity because I don't want to also have to buy this on CD. But I'm tempted!

Very good retro-ish synth music reminiscent of John Carpenter soundtracks. The only problem is the CD was pressed poorly, so there are many errors when ripped, even with iTunes' error correction turned on. I'll try getting a replacement disc.

This album is amazing, it should have been the sound track to the recent Dredd movie. Reminiscent of sound tracks like that of the original Terminator movie. 80's synth goodness with more than a dash of John Carpenter. I recommend watching the movie again with the sound turned down and this album on in the background, thanks to Orbital Comics London for this top tip.
