Since "The Beast and His Pet High School Girl" (its fan-translated title) has never been officially released in North America, let alone officially translated in English, fan translations were the only way I could read this story.
To both thank the creator for not ordering the take-down of fan-translations and to help fund not just continued work on the manga, but hopefully an official English release in North America, I purchased all released volumes.
It is just my hope that some of the money from these sales goes to Kaji Peji, Yakan Tsuzura, or whoever it was who wrote this story.
If these volumes were ever translated into English and released in North America, I’d purchase those too.
Since I can’t read Japanese, I was unsure if even in Japan if this was picked-up by a publisher.
So when I ordered it, I was worried that it might be amateurishly made with staples or with a spiral spine.
As evident in the pictures I provided, its quality matches that of professionally-made manga volumes, leading me to believe its printing/binding is indeed overseen by a publisher.
It’s an adorable story of owner/pet role-reversal.
There exists a separate dimension identical to our own with the sole difference being that the dominant species are anthropomorphic animals ranging from wolves, lions, birds, lizards, and more.
In this alternate reality, there exists unknown individuals with the means to travel to our human dimension, kidnap individuals, and bring them back to their own world to rarely be sold as pets.
Such as what happens to a high school girl who was suddenly transported and put up for sale in a pet shop in the other world.
Purchased by a much larger wolf-man who, like all the other denizens, speaks a foreign language unknown to the girl.
As such, the girl decides that if she ever wants to return to her own world, she must first learn the language of this new world while suffering being a pet to an overly affectionate dopey wolf-man.
The main criticism I’ve heard about this story is how creepy it is how the wolf-man fawns over this high school girl.
However, it isn’t so uncommon when also considering all the unwanted affection many humans give their aloof, distant, and apathetic pet cats.
This is a role-reversal after all.
