There still is music which allows its listeners enough space for unlimited enjoyment, unfolds all its glory on top of lavish arrangements and takes the liberty of celebrating sounds and harmonic sequences in the elaborateness they deserve.

Enter LONG DISTANCE CALLING, a five-piece band hailing from Germany's Münster region that delivers all the above and more. Their third self-titled release promises everything you find yourself looking for without avail in most contemporary bands: an immediate coexistence of depth and exaltation, melancholia and joie de vivre, great gestures and small peculiarities.

独/ミュンスター発のインテリジェント・ポストロック、2011年リリースの3rdアルバム。

さながら情緒を備えたアンドロイドのように、下手な情感に崩れることのない、ゆえに明確なシルエットのエモーションを噴出させるインストゥルメンタル。前作『Avoid The Light』と比べると、随所でメタリック/プログレッシヴなニュアンスは増したが、そのサウンドのベースは変わらない。

明滅するパルス/交わされるサンプリング・ナレーションによって、ただちに拓かれた脳内スペースへと引き込まれる"Into The Black Wide Open"を皮切りに、漆黒の中を旋回し、昇り、炸裂する楽曲群。MASERATIとも近接する精緻なリズム・ループに瞬殺される"The Firgin D'an Boogie"、斬るようなリズムの余韻の中から、滲み出るような情感が漂う"Timebends"あたりが好み。

過去にはHAUNTEDのPeter Dolvingや、ex.KATATONIAのJonas Renkseをゲスト・ヴォーカルに迎えたトラックもあったが、今作の"Middleville"では、ex.ANTHRAXのJohn Bushが参加。邪悪なエネルギーとともに増幅するインストに共振し、クログロとして冷たく、ヘヴィなヴォーカルが炸裂する。前作以上にスケール面での触れ幅を広げ、それに伴って深化した音像はかなりアピール度が高いように思う。ただ個人的には、そのスマートな知性に裏打ちされた、凛として情の深いインスト奏が好みであるため、トータルの世界観としては前作に軍配が上がる、というのが正直なところ。

I have only just discovered this band (while trawling Amazon for any Mogwai albums I didn't already have) and I must say I'm very impressed. I can't say any more than that except I've ordered another two albums by this band...

Album spettacolare che già possedevo in versione digitale.
Il formato vinile è in assoluto il miglior supporto per la musica e per ascoltare album strumentali come questo.
I long distance calling fanno un progressive post rock eccezionale ed in quest'album son riusciti anche a superarsi , con riff di chitarra potenti ed avvolgenti
e tracce veramente oniriche.

per quel che riguarda la spedizione , nonostante la poca cura dei corrieri , l'interno del pacco è arrivato in perfette condizioni grazie all'imballaggio amazon ed in tempi molto brevi come sempre

LONG DISTANCE CALLING aus Münster, legen mit ihrem Selbstbetiteltem Album ihren dritten Longplayer vor. (Die EP "090208 Split" von 2008, zusammen mit Leech zähle ich jetzt nicht mit...). Waren "Satellite Bay" von 2007 und "Avoid The Light" von 2009 schon sehr gute Alben, so ist das neue "LDC" einfach genial gut.
Wie auf ihren silbernen Vorgängern, verstehen es LDC wie kaum eine zweite Band des Post/Prog.-Rock-Genres, relativ lange Stücke zu schreiben, die teilweise sehr komplex, aber trotzdem immer gut nachvollziehbar und nie langweilig, sind.
"LDC", besteht aus 7 Stücken und hat eine Gesamtlaufzeit von 56:11 Minuten, also absolut okay. Ich mag bei LDC die erst ruhig-anfangenden und sich dann immer mehr zu wunderschönen Klanggebilden aufbauenden Stücke. Long Distance Calling, sind für mich ein Garant, nicht nur für "einfach gute Musik", sondern auch für interessante-immer-wieder-etwas-neues-zu-entdeckende Musik. Ich ertappe mich immer wieder dabei, wenn ich eine der Platten von Long Distance Calling in den Player lege, dass ich mich dann in die Horizontale begebe und die Musik absolut genieße, ohne jeglicher Ablenkungen, meist unter Ohrhörern...kann ich nur empfehlen.
"LDC", ist ein wahrer Ohrenschmaus, geniale Songstrukturen, schöne Melodiebögen und Entspannung pur...ein tolles Album...!!
