Gene Hackman plays two entirly different characters. As usual he does an excellent job at both. Throughout his career he has bounced back and forth between playing the good guy and the bad guy. In Bite the Bullet he is partnered with James Coburn and the story line revolves around a horse race across America. There are several humerous incidents throughout however there is also a sensitive side that dvelops as the story progresses. I found it quite enjoyable. The Quick and the Dead portrays Hackman as an outlaw that made good who has become the controlling entity ina western town. Fortunately Sharon Stone sees to it the she gets revenge and deals Hackman his comeupance. As stated before, these two films should please anyone who enjoy Gene Hackman and westerns.
Had a dvd of Bite the Bullet. My mistake was loaning it to SOMEONE, and can't remember who it was. Anyway, I never got it back. So, I had to buy another copy. The Quick & the Dead is another one of my favorites. So, when they came in a double feature pack, it was a boon. What a must buy! There is just something about these two movies I never get tired of watching. Both have all my favorite stars. The price was outrageous ! ($10.98) For two movies ! New copies, too!
